Congress passed a resolution this week to recognize the importance of Christmas.

The resolution states that "Christmas is a time for 225 million Christians throughout this country to reflect on the birth of their Savior, Jesus Christ and it is celebrated as recognition of God's Redemption, Mercy and Grace."

The vote was 372-9. Of the 9 Democrats who opposed it, three are from California.

They were: Congresspersons Lee (Oakland), Stark (Fremont) and Woolsey (Santa Rosa).

Pray for them, please.

Boy Scouts Under Attack-Again PDF Print Email

This week the Boy Scouts in Philadelphia had to change their policy on homosexuality-they refused.

For nearly 80 years they have paid $1.00 a year to rent city facilities. If they don't change their policy, they must pay the city $200,000 a year to rent.

The Philadelphia Boy Scouts help 64,000 kids a year by equipping kids to be successful. 70% are inner-city kids, including such programs as after school mentoring.

The liberal Democrats are ignoring that Philadelphia is filled with crime, high delinquency rates and aimless kids. The Boy Scouts need support, not politically correct attacks.

In a free society, we have the right to hold beliefs and views that others may disagree on. What the city is doing is discriminating, and this is just wrong.

Back in 2000, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the group's right to bar gay scout masters based on the principle of freedom of association. But Philadelphia's intolerance to the religious and moral beliefs of the Boy Scouts is trying to get around the court ruling.

“At the end of the day, you cannot be in a city-owned facility being subsidized by the taxpayers and not have language in your lease that talks about nondiscrimination," said City Councilman Darrell L. Clarke, "Negotiations are over.”

On June 1, 2008, the group will be evicted.

“Since we were founded, we believe that open homosexuality would be inconsistent with the values that we want to communicate with our leaders," said Gregg Shields, national spokesman for the Boy Scouts. "A belief in God is also mentioned in the Scout oath. We believe that those values are important. Tradition is important. Our mission is to instill those values in scouts and help them make good choices over their lifetimes.”

Pray they stand strong and the city reverses its policy.

At a Democratic debate, John Edwards was asked if he would be comfortable having the “King and King” kid book—where two men are kissing at the end and living “happily ever after”—read to second graders (7 years old).Edwards responded “I don't want to make that decision on behalf of my children. I want my children to be able to make that decision on behalf of themselves, and I want them to be exposed to all the information, even in (chuckling), what did you say, second grade?

“Well, second grade might be a little tough, but even in second grade, to be exposed to all those possibilities. Because I don't want to impose my view—nobody made me God—I don't get to decide on behalf of my family and my children...I don't get to impose on them what it is that I believe is right.”

San Diego Mayor Breaks Promise to Christians PDF Print Email

San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders broke his promise to Christians and cultural conservatives.

The betrayal was during his 2005 mayoral race. He received voter and financial support based on his pledge to oppose same-sex marriage.

The mayor said:

“As you know, I don't support same-sex marriage, but that's because of the religious reasons.”

But on September 19 of this year, the mayor reversed his position. Christians had expected him to veto the vote.

One San Diego Christian leader pointed out Proverbs 6:16–19:

“There are six things the Lord hates—no seven things He detests: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, and a person who sows discord among brothers.”

Beware: The liberal legislature in Sacramento is hard at work. As they expand government and control our choices, little by little we lose our freedoms. Here are a few of the antifamily liberal bills we need to watch:

Spank a kid, go to jail—the nanny state expands

Liberal Assemblywoman Sally Lieber (the second most powerful Democrat in the Assembly) is trying to pass legislation that would make spanking a child under 4 a misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in jail...or a fine up to $1,000.

The Democrat said, “I think we ought to have a law against beating children.”

Newsflash: There are laws against beating children. Child abuse is already illegal. We don’t need a new law.

The truth is, spanking is not abuse. It’s what most Christians believe is right for parents to do and is supported by the Word of God.

This legislation is typical of the liberal mentality of taking away parental rights and micromanaging the family.

Can you imagine the nightmare of people turning in parents to the state for “spanking” their child? Can you imagine the damage done from ...Get the full story. Sign up for a FREE all-access membership by clicking here.
