At least nine Super Bowl advertisers—shelling out a record
$3 million for each 30-second TV commercial—used offensive
sexual innuendos to sell their products.
Once a great family event, the Super Bowl is no longer an
ideal venue for children, who should not have seen these
commercials.
The case against global warming is getting stronger and
stronger. But the liberal media often distorts reality.
On May 21, 2008, there was the worldwide headline
proclaiming "Climate change threat to Alpine ski resorts.” The
article reported that the entire Alpine "winter sports
industry" could soon "grind to a halt for lack of snow.”
A second, very interesting headline appeared on December
19, 2008, but the news remained buried: "The Alps have best
snow conditions in a generation.” They actually reported that
this winter's Alpine snowfalls "look set to beat all records
by New Year's Day.”
Despite this Washington and Sacramento politicians still
are pursuing antibusiness, antijob legislation over this
environmental debate.
The 2008 release of The Day the Earth Stood Still
is a remake of the 1951 sci-fi classic. Directed with a
Christian worldview by Scott Derrickson, it is filled with
biblical themes and allusions. Derrickson is a graduate of
Biola University.
On the surface, the movie has some “green” elements, but
it‘s really about human nature. It references Noah and the
flood, a child before a cross and a Christ-figure in the form
of an alien visitor. Derrickson will soon be working on an
adaptation of John Milton’s Paradise Lost.
"The dustbin of history is littered with the remains of those countries that relied on diplomacy to secure their freedom.
"We must never forget...in the final analysis...that it is our military, industrial and economic strength that offers the best guarantee of peace for America in times of danger."
—Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States
