Every small gesture means something to God—and to those you help

Finally, I thank you for reading Reality Alert and helping reshape America by writing to those in authority and helping other Christians know about the issues we cover.

One reader was discouraged being she couldn’t actually come to Election Forums anymore and no longer could write letters. I encouraged her to keep praying.

And it reminded me of a song that blesses me each time I hear it.

This is for all readers—young and old—for the things you do for the Kingdom that aren’t seen or that you may think are insignificant.

Lynch him! PDF Print Email

It was a mob scene as every congressman and senator wanted to show that they were outraged by the $165 million in AIG bonus money that taxpayers paid for failure.

There is outrage everywhere—and hypocracy

None admitted guilt for voting “yes” on the bailout that allowed this abuse and waste. And it’s just a drop in the bucket.

But the larger outrage is that taxpayers put up $173 billion to fund the AIG rescue in the first place.

Billions are unaccounted for, despite President Obama’s promise for accountability. We are being asked to pay for bad behavior. What should have happened is—in a free society—you suffer for bad behavior. Instead, the bailouts reward bad decisions and actually retard recovery.

With subsidies, welfare payments and socialized government bailouts, they encourage failure, inefficiency and bad policies.

And that’s not all…

Now it comes out that your tax money has been used to sell AIG products at below market rates, driving out competition, killing jobs and income from competition—independent, smaller companies.

AIG should have been reorganized by the bankruptcy court, bonuses nullified and the good allowed to remain—the bad gone.

Instead, the bad stays and more problems happen as this turns into a political economy, not a market economy. With bankruptcy, there is accountability and responsibility. With bailouts you get off the hook. Reward failure, and you get more failure.

We, the taxpayers, paid $1,224 per person for AIG. And the government owns 80% of the company…that is socialism.

Prime-Time TV Ups its Attack on Christians PDF Print Email

The liberal media has been using TV programs as propaganda forums for decades.

Often this takes the form of attacks on Christians...Christians depicted as evil hypocrites, filled with hate and dysfunction.

One of the worst offenders is Law and Order. My wife,Shelly, refuses to let us watch it, once one of her favorite shows.

It's constantly advocating abortion, pro-homosexuality, gun control, anti-business/free enterprise, and other liberal themes.

And many times it's anti-church. For example, recently it ran a show where a student fell under the influence of a hateful youth minister who trains kids to fight in a religious war against Islam.

One of the kids kills his own mother for having an affair with a Muslim. By stoning her he believes he "cleanses" her of sin and saves her soul.

Typical Christian?

One of the reasons Europe is so liberal, anti-American and anti-Christian is their press.

Did You Miss It?—Zach Johnson PDF Print Email

Many were surprised when unknown Zach Johnson won the Masters over Tiger Woods and Retief Goosen.

When asked about his win, he thanked God...so his reply was overlooked by most of the liberal media.

"Today, the only thing different was the fact that it was Easter. I felt like regardless of what happened today, my responsibility was to glorify God and hopefully, He thinks I did."

Liberal press loses readers PDF Print Email

The liberal media is suffering economically from its biased reporting (and other factors). Within 6 months, the Los Angeles Times circulation dropped 8%, with Sunday’s edition dropping 6%. And the San Francisco Chronicle dropped 5.3%, with Sunday's edition falling 7.3%.

This just goes to show that people want unbiased information, and if the media doesn't catch on to that soon—readership will continue to drop.

If you have been horrified by the manipulative liberal media, it’s not your imagination. Candidates and initiatives that are pro-family, pro-economic growth and in favor of protecting us from terrorism are facing two challenges—their opponents and the media.

The LA Times and most newspapers and magazines have consistently distorted the news.

In the past few months, a study was conducted of CBS, NBC and ABC news. The study indicated that 77% of reports were positive to the Democrats and 88% were negative to the Republicans.

The liberal media strikes again. It’s not Feinstein against Mountjoy. No, no, no...It’s the LA Times and the liberal media and Feinstein against Mountjoy.

Be careful what you watch, what you read and what you hear on the radio. The media can be very deceptive and can fool you about issues such as what propositions are really about and what candidates really represent.

Washington liberals try to silence conservatives and Christians PDF Print Email

The Democratic liberal majority in the Senate and the House are preparing legislation that further controls and regulates the lives of Americans.

They want more laws, more rules and more and more taxes. The result is more wasteful bureaucracy, more corruption and more government programs stifling the economy.

These are two major assaults on conservatives and Christians. And they are part of a growing effort to silence ideas and beliefs liberals don't like.

Here are the latest assaults you should be aware of:

The UNFairness Doctrine is back

I remember distinctly in 1987, one of Ronald Reagan’s objectives was finally realized: The “Fairness Doctrine” was repealed.

The Fairness Doctrine was an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) regulation started in 1949 requiring broadcasters to present both sides of a subjectively determined “controversial” issue.

It caused radio and TV stations to be afraid of huge fines if the station didn’t provide equal time to the opposing viewpoints. This created a form of censorship.

But, starting in 1987, the talk radio boom began. Based upon ratings, it became clear that radio listeners preferred conservative and libertarian talk shows over liberal.

From the 1950s all the way to the late 1980s, the media was dominated by the liberals. For example, liberals ran the nation's largest newspapers, such as The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post. The same went for TV and radio news: ABC, NBC and CBS.

But talk radio broke the monopoly of ideas and opened the media to the most popular radio personalities.

In the L.A. market, people had several choices. Some liberals were successful, such as Bill Handel of KFI and Mr. KABC on KABC. But most liberals couldn’t do as well.

And now, the liberals want to force change.

At the George Soros–subsidized National Conference for Media Reform, the push to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine—and stop talk radio—began.

  • Congressman Maurice Hinchey, the new chairman of a subcommittee with jurisdiction over the FCC, has introduced the Media Ownership Reform Act, which would reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. Bottom line: Bureaucrats at the FCC will monitor the TV and radio content—in violation of the First Amendment! He thinks this will be the end of conservative and Christian broadcasts on the air, and he might be right.
  • Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont is the only openly, out-of-the-closet socialist. He is introducing a similar bill in the Senate.
  • Congressman Dennis Kucinich, chairman of the Domestic Policy Subcommittee of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, told the audience, “We know the media has become the servant of a very narrow corporate agenda—we are now in a position to move a progressive agenda to where it is visible.”

They want:

  • Conservative talk shows off the air.
  • Christian broadcasters not to be able to say anything controversial to our culture—without a rebuttal required (no more J. Vernon McGee and other Christian programs).

Be in prayer on this one!

Reflection

"Get along among yourselves, each of you doing your part. Our counsel is that you warn the freeloaders to get a move on.

"Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet.

"Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. And be careful that when you get on each other's nerves you don't snap at each other.

"Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out. Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens.

"This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live."

—1 Thessalonians 5:15–18
