Pray for the court as important decisions are
made
Oral arguments before the California Supreme Court will
begin on March 5. Add this to your prayer list…and your
church’s prayer list. Pray for the judge and for Ken Starr,
who is representing Proposition 8.
- Protect Marriage
loses donor protection case. As you know, I have
been the target of a “blacklist” by No on 8 groups. This is
because my name and all names of donors who supported
Proposition 8 were made public by the Secretary of
State.
This invasion of my privacy has a chilling
effect on free speech and contributions. So, Protect
Marriage went to court to stop this practice but lost. To
see one such group, click
here.
- Google leads fight
against Proposition 8. Google filed an amicus brief
opposing Prop 8. If this disturbs you, check out the Google
alternative http://www.goodsearch.com/.
- Anti-8 ballot
measures. I’ve counted six, none likely to gather
enough signatures to be on the 2010 November ballot.
- Churches against
Proposition 8. The following churches are urging
the California Supreme Court to reject the will of the
voters on Prop 8: California Council of Churches, the United
Church of Christ and the Episcopal Bishops of California.
- Pastor Jim Garlow of
Skyline Church. This Rancho San Diego pastor was on
the Larry King Show. You can view the key segments here:

Religious Rights

- Unions against
Proposition 8. If you’re a union worker, do you
support your name and dues money being used to overturn the
Prop 8 vote? More than 50 unions claim to be speaking for 2
million members that support gay marriage. The legal brief
presented to the court included the AFL-CIO, Teamsters,
United Steel Workers, Screen Actors Guild, California
Federation of Teachers and the California Nurses
Association. Email me your thoughts at

- Prop 8 donors final
count. No on 8: 43.3 million, Yes on 8: 39.9
million
- Cities and counties
against Proposition 8. Watch your city. So far,
Sacramento, San Francisco, Berkeley, Cloverdale, Los
Angeles, Davis, Long Beach, Palm Springs, Fairfax and West
Hollywood have asked the court to invalidate the Proposition
8 vote. The counties of Humboldt and Sonoma also are urging
the court to rule against 8.
State legislature to vote on Proposition 8
resolutions. On Tuesday, February 17, the State
Assembly and Senate will have hearings on resolutions that ask
the court to overturn Proposition 8. Our Reality
Alert Update will keep you informed on what to
do by phone and email. |

Discover what your children are actually
learning
Few Evangelical high school students are able to defend
their faith. By college, huge numbers drop away from their
faith. Why? Because these kids spend years being indoctrinated
by liberal teachers—and not taught apologetics and sound
doctrine.
Here are two short videos that address this problem:
What do you think? Should Christian parents take kids out
of government schools? Is it irresponsible and dangerous to
have kids in public schools? Email your thoughts to

Not even snowfall gets fair news coverage
The case against global warming is getting stronger and
stronger. But the liberal media often distorts reality.
On May 21, 2008, there was the worldwide headline
proclaiming "Climate change threat to Alpine ski resorts.” The
article reported that the entire Alpine "winter sports
industry" could soon "grind to a halt for lack of snow.”
A second, very interesting headline appeared on December
19, 2008, but the news remained buried: "The Alps have best
snow conditions in a generation.” They actually reported that
this winter's Alpine snowfalls "look set to beat all records
by New Year's Day.”
Despite this Washington and Sacramento politicians still
are pursuing antibusiness, antijob legislation over this
environmental debate. |

You won’t get a tax refund, but you will get a
billboard
Despite the state budget crisis, your tax money is being
used for billboards encouraging homosexuals, bisexuals and
transsexuals to become adoptive parents.
One message reads, “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of
Family.”
The California Department of Social Services and the County
of Los Angeles are partnering with the Human Rights Campaign
Foundation. Odd.
Perhaps the partnership was helped along by the fact that
the California Department of Social Services director, John
Wagner, is on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation advisory
board.
Government insanity—you can’t make this stuff up.

Fix the deficit by spending nearly a million on
furniture?
About 7 months ago, California State Controller John Chiang
asked for $934,500 for new furniture for his plush office with
a scenic view.
Now he is asking for an extra $924,500. What he did not ask
was whether there was any surplus furniture he could use.
In 2007, he also took a 2.75% raise on his salary,
currently reported as $169,743.
And yet this is the person who is supposed to tell us how
to solve California’s $42 billion deficit. |

Examining the media’s actions reveals clear
bias
Sarah Palin has had to endure unbelievable attacks and
distortions by the media.
Here are two interesting short videos:
- Here’s a video of Sarah
discussing the bias with documentary filmmaker John Ziegler.

Rescue money shrouded in mystery and
corruption
Families today…our kids and grandkids tomorrow. That’s who
will be hurt by the Wall Street Bailout (formally known as the
Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP).
Here are a few of the lies that were wrapped up in this
piece of legislation:
- We were told there would be
a financial collapse without it…a lie!
- We were told it would buy
bad assets, but it went elsewhere…a lie!
- We were told that there
would be accountability, but no one really knows where all
the money went…proof of another lie.
Now it’s announced that the Treasury Department “overpaid”
part of this bailout by $78 billion.
Is this a criminal or just incompetent? Email your thoughts

These taxes are harmful to the poor and cost all of us
more money
The state legislature will vote Friday or early next week
on a bill that will mean $14.3 billion in new taxes and $10.9
billion in new borrowing, i.e., expensive interest and new
debt.
It’s outrageous. It’s wrong. And it will hurt you and your
family.
The state budget deficit is over $42 billion. Instead of
cutting 100% of the deficit, the governor and liberal
Democrats want to strangle the California economy and families
with about 61.4% higher taxes and interest over spending
cuts!
California already has one of the highest income taxes and
the highest sales tax in the nation.
If this bill passes, more people and more businesses will
flee California, resulting in fewer jobs and economic
opportunities. 150,000 businesses and people left last
year.
Just one example: Toyota is relocating because of our
state’s taxes and regulation. The government shouldn’t raise
taxes in a recession…even in California. In the last update
(click
here to see), I discussed how we got to this
part and the solution: cutting spending. But the politicians
won’t do it.
Which taxes are they going to increase? Here is what we do
know now:

Why the plan will prolong our recovery, not hasten
it
Out of fear (“If we do not move swiftly…will be faced with
a catastrophe”), a terrible economic mistake has taken place.
The Bible says “the fear of man is a snare.” Well, the
fear of man’s fear will be an economic snare.
President Obama admitted that the “stimulus bill was really
a ‘spending bill.’” Indeed, the largest spending bill in
our history.
A bill that is:
- Filled
with pork
- Was
supposed to be “targeted,” but is a hodgepodge of spending
for special interests, political pay offs and the pockets of
government unions.
- Was
supposed to be “temporary,” but is driving the budget
deficit to historic heights
- Set
to create about 600,000 new Federal bureaucrats
At $790 billion, it’s enough to give every unemployed
American more than $75,000.
Here are just two consequences of this enormous
spending bill:
