What Is Black Liberation Theology?

For over 20 years, Barack Obama sat without protest under the teaching of his spiritual mentor, Dr. Jeremiah Wright.

Dr. Wright and his church, Trinity United Church of Christ, are advocates of Black Liberation Theology.

This is important, because in understanding this ideology, you can understand the vitriolic preaching, the anti-Semitism, the racism, the anti-Americanism, the odd beliefs such as blaming the U.S. for 9/11 and the propagation of the HIV virus.

Much of it mirrors Marxist doctrines of class struggle and economic determinism.

Black Liberation Theology was defined in 1969 by the National Committee of Black Church Men.

Pray for Persecuted Christians around the Globe

Around the world many of our Christian brothers and sisters are persecuted under dangerous governments.

Because of the assignation of Benazir Bhutto, chaos runs throughout Pakistan.

And the probable al-Qaeda involvement in the murder plays into the hands of the Islamic fascists.

Pakistan is probably the most dangerous threat to peace in the world today because of it's nuclear weapons. Pray they not fall into the wrong hands.

And in Kenya, a church was burned with people in it. In India, more than twelve churches have been torched.

Pray:

For brothers and sisters in Christ facing increased persecution, bombed and burned churches and murdered believers.
And that stability, democracy and freedom will be established in these turbulent countries.

Helping the Poor—Capitalism or Government?

As Christians, helping the poor is a Biblical mandate.

That's why individuals and churches are the largest and most generous people in the world with their time, resources and money.

That's individuals, not government.

Political candidates often talk about helping the poor with government aid, not through the private sector. But their policies have the unintended consequence of hurting the poor.

That's because government can't create wealth. It can only redistribute wealth.

What creates wealth? What raises the standard of living faster for the poor—and everyone else?

Capitalism. Free enterprise. The market economy.

Government taxation and welfare redistribution programs create distortions in the economy. It lowers productivity, creativity and business growth. It's filled with waste, abuse and inefficiency.

Just look at the Department of Motor Vehicles—or any other such bureaucracies.

Fortunately, nations worldwide are slowly moving away from government-run enterprises, regulations and high taxes.

Even France is trying to free itself of socialism. China, too. And many other nations.

Capitalism has dramatically raised the standard of living in the U.S., helping lower the number of impoverished and making our low poverty level the envy of the world.

And the poverty levels in the rest of the world? In communist nations like Cuba and North Korea, severe poverty continues. And in socialist nations such as Africa and South America, poverty continues to grow.

But look what capitalism has helped do, despite government taxes and regulation retarding economic growth:

In 1981, 40% of the worlds population lived on less than $1 a day. Today, that is only 25% adjusted for inflation. It's estimated it will be cut in half by 2015.

Only government economic interference with taxes, regulation and control can reverse this trend.

Be careful about politicians and their advocacy of government programs to solve poverty.

Only more economic freedom can accelerate economic growth and lift people out of poverty.

Twenty-three Cal State schools have been instructed by a judge to remove free speech restrictions that have been used against Christian and conservative students.

Last month the judge said they are to be suspended until a lawsuit against the school is heard.

There are also lawsuits against discrimination for Christians and conservatives at San Diego State University and California State University, Long Beach.

"The leftist argument against religious America's 'injection of religion into politics' is merely a way of trying to keep only the secular and religious left in the political arena—and the religious right, primarily Evangelical Christians, out."—Dennis Prager

The War on Christmas in Our Schools

Throughout America, a saddening trend has grown to ban Christmas carols and concerts in our public schools during the Christmas—excuse me—"holiday season."

The "official reason" is that a Christmas song violates the "separation of church and state."

But this is false. No court should find it a problem. The Supreme Court has ruled that if there is no danger of a government-established religion, it's not a constitutional issue.

In California, we even have specific statues that allow teachers to use or reference religious material when it's educationally appropriate.

Which are the Highest-Taxed States?

#1 Rhode Island
#2 New Jersey
#3 New York
#4 California

Because of such high taxation, businesses and wealthy taxpayers are leaving California. This means fewer jobs, less innovation and less opportunity.
And it winds up hurting the poor and low-income citizens the most—but it also affects all of us. And the irony: increasing taxes drives business and people out of the state, which inevitably causes less tax revenue.

$14 Billion Deficit Crisis—Tax Hike Coming...and People Fleeing

First, the liberal Democrats and Arnold Schwarzenegger overspent.

Now, with a $14 billion debt crisis, they are talking about raising taxes. And California is already one of the highest-taxed states in the U.S.

And, they talk about "taxing the rich." It's anti-Christian-envy rhetoric that is not just immoral, but counterproductive.

What's happening is that businesses are leaving California, resulting in a loss of jobs and opportunities.

And now...so are individuals.

Here are a few examples:

Tiger Woods fled California, saving himself $4 million in 1 year.
Natalie Gulbis made $1.5 million and moved to Nevada to avoid the abusive California tax.
Scott McCarron left California for Nevada.

Of course, with our great weather, it's hard to think about leaving friends and families, relocating a business and moving to a no-income-tax state such as Florida, Texas, Nevada, or other lower-tax states. But the taxation in California is out of hand.
Liberal Assemblyman Paul Koretz represents wealthy locations in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. He says, "I have not run into in individual in my district who doesn't like the idea of paying a little more in taxes to shore up the education system."
And Assemblywoman Fran Pavley of Los Angeles said, "If you lived along the Pacific Ocean or the Santa Monica Mountains—yeah, you can't find that in Nevada."

It's becoming class warfare, and the politics of envy will cripple California.

Persecution is increasing in the old Soviet Bloc country of Uzbekistan. House churches must now meet in groups of five or less to avoid arrest.

Missionaries have been expelled, the state TV has produced a show attacking Christians and the Muslim influence in the country is increasing.

Revival in Japan

Japan has a Christian population of about 6%. But that wasn't always the case.

The "Keikyo" were the early Christians who came to Japan from the Silk Road in 70 A.D. Many were Assyrian Christian missionaries (from Iraq).

It is estimated that in the 1500s nearly 30% of the population of Japan were Christians.

These Christians were called "Kirishitan." From 1597 until 1859 there was a great genocide called the Kirishitan Holocaust where almost 1 million Christians were killed.

Now, a new revival is being called the "Japan Revival Generation." Over 1,000 young Japanese meet in Osaka to rally for Christ.

Pray for revival in Japan.
